Zero

Zero seems to bring some form of death with her wherever she goes, and as such has lost a lot of what's important to him. When they were 10, she lost his mother to an illness that had no non-magic cure. They too had caught this illness, and through some ancient spark of magic within her, he was resistant to it. Their friends and family, however, were not. Shortly after her mothers funeral, everyone in his village fell ill. To make things worse, their magic attracted a beast to the village, which killed many of her friends, only stopping at the sight of young Zero. Knowing only the stories his mother used to tell them, a need to do all she should to help his village, and the fear the beast expressed, they carefully led the beast - named Ygotere - to a clearing in the woods known to be a hotspot for the fae. Upon hearing what the two young beings had to say, the fae took advantage of the two traumatized kids and offered a deal: become one, and be free from your sickness. Of course, there was more to it than that, but for now that's the main bit you need to remember. Naturally, neither Zero nor Ygotere knew any other way out, so they accepted. Two became one, and much was lost. Ygotere, not wishing to face his family with this new form, accepted Zero's plea to return to the village. Things were okay, for a little while. The village had been cured by the fae, and Ygotere remained dormant within Zero. But Ygotere had experienced just as much trauma as Zero, and... Eventually, Ygotere heard a word he had hoped to never hear again, and he broke down. Zero was forced away, and Ygotere did a lot of damage. Zero lost her father, then, and the two kids were chased out of the village. Unwelcome in Zero's home, and unable to get to Ygotere's home, the two were essentially left to either die or figure it all out on their own.

Duck

Duck is not a necromancer as he says. Well, not mainly. Its main training was in ancient magic, the name of which has long since been lost. His past, for the most part, is unimportant. That is until its 12th birthday. On the other side of the woods was another village. One that had long since been abandoned by all but one family: Ducks family. Why? Because something was coming, a prophecy of sorts, so everyone fled before it could come to be. But Ducks family knew better. They were, after all, the ones destined to bring it on. They had been for generations. This generation was a little different, though, because Ducks mom had twins: Duck, and Sage.
